I feel sorry for your mother tonight,
She's crying her eyes out cause she'll never see you grow.
It was an accident, it was a quick red light.
But you were so young that you'll never know.

The thought of never growing up,
Your small coffin stays the same.
Makes me sad and angry,
But there's no one to blame.

And as I read through notes written in pink pen,
I want to write you a letter that is impossible to send.

I feel sorry for your sister today,
She was so little last we met,
And I'm wondering if she's okay.
The phone stays quiet cause it won't help them forget.

And as I look at my brother,
Watching him learn each year.
I say a little prayer for her family.
And I pray that God hears.

The thought of never growing up,
Your small coffin stays the same.
Makes me sad and angry,
But there's no one to blame.

And as I read through notes written in pink pen,
I want to write you a letter that is impossible to send.

You wanted to be a dentist last time I heard,
I bet your dad knows...I bet he remembers every word.

But because the events of one day,
One girl's potential just stopped.
She's in heaven right now today.
Wonder if her mom watches the clock.

The thought of never growing up,
Your small coffin stays the same.
Makes me sad and angry,
But there's no one to blame.

And as I read through notes written in pink pen,
I want to write you a letter that is impossible to send.

This is a sad, slow song about a girl I went to school with in elementary school. She died in a car crash over Easter break when she was 12. I still think about her and pray for comfort for her mom.

i like it, and i like the detail of the notes being written in pink pen.

the mood reminds me a little bit of What Sarah Said [listen to it, it's good] even though the song's subject matter differ enough so that i really shouldn't be comparing.

the men all played along to marching drums;
and boy, did they have fun behind the sea.
they sang, 'so our matching legs are marching clocks.
and we're all too small to talk to god.
yes, we're all too smart to talk to god.'
hmmmmmmm....
